HOW TO HELP

Become an MHS Volunteer

What should I do to become a new volunteer?

We're Glad You're Here!

Welcome and thank you for your interest in volunteering with us at Midlands Humane Society. We are very grateful for your support and would be thrilled to have you join our volunteer team. There are few things as rewarding as helping a homeless animal find a new home and when you volunteer at MHS, you make a difference for homeless animals AND the people adopting them.

Our volunteer team members give their heart, time, and talent to change the lives of thousands of pets each year. We could not do what we do without volunteers, and we have unmet needs waiting for more talented volunteers to help us fulfill our mission!

Volunteer Vision Statement:

Midlands Humane Society will seek, empower, and value our volunteer team, while collaborating to provide life saving initiatives and community engagement to impact the animals and people we serve.

How to get started:

Step 1: Register for orientation by emailing the coordinator using the calendar below. Attend the general orientation to decide if MHS is the right fit for you.

Step 2: Fill out a volunteer application after attending orientation and pay a one-time $25 application fee.

Step 3: Sign up for volunteer training sessions based on your skills/interests/availability.

Step 4: Start completing shifts on your own as the newest member of our volunteer team!

*Orientations are:

 Wednesday April 10th from 6:30pm-7:15pm

  • Limited to 10 individuals due to space constraints
  • Subject to rescheduling if there are not enough attendees signed up

To sign up for orientation please contact Volunteer Coordinator, Lindsay Anderson, at landerson@midlandshumanesociety.org or call at (712) 396-2263
