In early January 2015, a dog was brought to our facility who was presumed dead after being hit by a vehicle. She surprised our staff when her ears perked up – she was ready to fight for her life! She received emergency care including numerous staples in her forehead. In light of her circumstances, the staff decided to name her Angel and, after weeks of recovery, Angel found her forever home on February 9.
Angel’s will to live is an inspiration to us all and she represents just one of the numerous animals who require medical attention while under our care. Although our local veterinarians provide generous discounts, the expenses still add up quickly so Angel’s Fund was created to help offset the costs of these very important services provided to the animals.
Medical expenses are one of the most expensive items in our nonprofit budget. Upon intake, all animals are tested for medical issues and treated accordingly by our trained professional staff. Those with more complicated medical needs are sent for outside veterinary care and, in crisis situations like Angel’s, this is done on an emergency basis. In addition, if they are not spayed or neutered they undergo the surgical procedure before becoming eligible for adoption.
If you would like to make a tax deductible donation to help the homeless animals with their medical care – be it something as simple as de-worming or as extensive as emergency surgery and rehabilitation – please fill out our online donation form for Angel’s Fund.
