Midlands Humane Society (MHS) is excited to announce Council Bluff’s first ever off-leash dog park. In conjunction with a generous capital campaign donation, the park is named to honor the memory of Kevin Bills. The dog park is scheduled to open in February 2016 and will have separate fenced areas for both large and small dogs.
The park has been a dream of the Board of Directors for many years and aims to enrich the lives of both dogs and their owners. The dog park is a grassy space to the north and west of the Midlands Humane Society Facility. Fully enclosed with fencing that has two gate entry systems for dog safety, the park will have dog play structures, benches and running water.
“We are extremely excited to be opening Council Bluff’s very own dog park,” said Melanie Milner, Board Member. “This dog park will add recreational value to our area, but also promote a safe, active experience for our local dog owners and their pets.”
Dog park memberships are $50 for a year (for one household up to four dogs) and can be purchased online: www.midlandshumanesociety.org/dog-park, with a renewal date of March 31, 2017. Visit Dog Park page for additional details about the rules and regulations, as well as hours.
MHS plans to have a “leash cutting” ceremony in the spring.
