"Let’s Wrap It Up!" Midlands Humane Society kicks off ‘Bark Friday’ drive
There is Black Friday and then there is BARK Friday.
“Bark Friday – Let’s Wrap It Up!” is the Midlands Humane Society’s (MHS) campaign to raise the final funding needed to open its new animal shelter in Council Bluffs.
Beginning Friday, November 228 and continuing through December 31, shelter supporters will actually see their donations matched dollar-for-dollar up to a total of $20,000, said Michelle Miller, member of the Board of Directors.
“We have an anonymous pledge to match any funds raised during this campaign up to $20,000”, she said. In other words, if the total amount given by the public reaches $20,000 during this campaign, it will actually be a $40,000 gift, and will officially end our campaign just in time for our opening in January.
“No matter the dollar amount, $10, $100 or $1,000, every gift will be matched up to $20,000,” Miller said. “You could say MHS donors are getting more bark for their buck this holiday season.”
The state-of-the-art shelter, located at the intersection of College Road and Railroad Avenue, will be open on January 2, 2015. Want a sneak peek? MHS is holding a Shelter Shower mid-December, visit our website for details, she said.
“We are excited to provide a better environment and higher levels of care for the homeless animals in our community,” Miller said. “We are extremely grateful to all of our donors and this matching gift opportunity will help us ‘Wrap It Up!’ and make this community’s dream a reality.”
